"Шанувальник Везувію" - це захоплюючий роман, який занурює читача в атмосферу XVIII століття, де переплітаються краса, влада та пристрасті. Авторка, Сьюзен Зонтаг, майстерно передає емоції та переживання своїх персонажів, зокрема, Вільяма Гамільтона та його коханки Емми. Історія їхнього кохання, що починається з підняття Емми з "дна суспільства", вражає своєю глибиною та складністю. Зонтаг вдало відтворює соціальні реалії того часу, показуючи, як аристократія може бути як розкішною, так і жорстокою. Конфлікт між Гамільтоном і адміралом Нельсоном додає динаміки сюжету, а любовний трикутник робить його ще більш інтригуючим.
