Countess Kozel is the first novel (in the style of a “horror novel”) from the historical “Saxon trilogy” about the events of the early 18th century during the era of the King of Poland, Elector of Saxony Augustus II. The film of the same name contributed to the extraordinary popularity of the novel.
Józef Ignacy Kraszewski (1812–1887) is a world-famous Polish writer, author of action-packed historical novels that rank alongside the works of Walter Scott, A. Dumas and I. Lazhechnikov .
