Among the Russian emigration, Harald Karlovich Graf (1885–1966) was known not only as a former senior officer of the destroyer Novik, captain of the 2nd rank, participant in the Russo-Japanese, World War I and Civil Wars, but also as an author the famous book “On Novik”. The Baltic Fleet in War and Revolution,” published in Germany in 1922. The success of the book was phenomenal. It was read by ordinary people, former officers of the Russian army and navy, grand dukes, and liberals of the Russian diaspora.
