Karl May (1842-1912), the last great mystic of German literature, remains to this day one of the most widely read authors in his homeland of Germany. He wrote all his works while sitting at home, but for several dozen generations of readers, the images of proud, fearless Indians from his talented pen, so irresistibly played by Gojko Mitic in the film adaptations of K. May’s novels, have not left indifferent. The Collected Works includes not only famous the writer’s novels, but also works translated into Russian for the first time. Among them is the novel of the “eastern cycle”, included in the fifth volume - “From Baghdad to Istanbul.”
