A bright representative of the brilliant galaxy of poets of the Russian “Silver Age” (the first quarter of the 20th century), Nikolai Stepanovich Gumilyov (1886–1921) accomplished a lot in his short life. The author of a dozen collections of poetry, each of which became a notable event in the literary life of Russia, he also tried his hand at drama, prose, and literary criticism. This publication reflects the literary biography of Gumilyov. Conflicting reviews and memories of contemporaries about Gumilyov - a writer and a man - complement the expressive portrait of the untimely death of the artist of the word.
