"Philoctetes" is a drama by the ancient Greek poet Sophocles, which tells about the torment of the hero Philoctetes, who was betrayed and exiled by his friends to a deserted island due to the disease of a forever frightening snake. From that moment on, the hero leads a solitary life, descending to self-absorption and self-destruction. However, when the Greek warriors need his lover, the architect of the fall of Troy, in order to end the great war, he must again choose between revenge and forgiveness. Dramaturgy and a deep psychological study of the human soul make "Philoctetes" one of the most outstanding works of ancient Greek drama.
