This volume opens a four-volume edition of field materials on folk demonology from Ukrainian and Belarusian Polesie, as well as the adjacent southern Russian regions. The book contains an extensive corpus of mythological texts, recorded in the 80-90s, published for the first time. XX century Polesie expedition. The presented materials are provided with detailed scientific commentary and reference materials. The first volume of "Folk Demonology of Polesie" includes texts containing beliefs about people with demonic properties: a witch, a sorcerer, a sorceress, a healer, "knowing ones", a werewolf, as well as about one of the most characteristic results of the harmful activities of witches and sorcerers - the crease.< /p>

Цей том "Народної демонології Полісся" є справжнім скарбом для всіх, хто цікавиться українською та білоруською міфологією. Автори провели величезну роботу, зібравши польові матеріали, які не лише зберігають унікальні фольклорні тексти, але й надають глибокий науковий аналіз. Читання цієї книги – це подорож у світ стародавніх повір'їв, де відьми, чаклуни та інші демонічні істоти стають живими персонажами. Я особливо вражений якістю наукового коментаря, який допомагає зрозуміти контекст і значення кожного тексту. Хоча переклад з мови оригіналу за допомогою штучного інтелекту іноді має свої недоліки, загалом, книга читається легко і захоплююче. Рекомендую всім, хто хоче зануритися в багатий світ української демонології та фольклору!
