Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) is a classic of English literature, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907, who owes his fame primarily to the romance that permeates his poetry collections. The third volume of his collected works includes: two “Jungle Books” , the writer’s most popular works, which center on the human cub Mowgli, who grew up among animals, as well as the collection of short stories “In the Indian Mountains.” Kipling's ability to capture something exciting and lofty in ordinary life, the truthfulness and deep originality of his talent were highly appreciated by I. Bunin, A. Kuprin, M. Gorky and other Russian writers.
