The historical story “Grandfathers” by the Russian writer Vsevolod Vladimirovich Krestovsky (1839–1895), widely known in the second half of the 19th century, describes the reign of Paul I. Книга "Діди" Всеволода Крестовського - це не просто історична повість, а справжнє дослідження особистості Павла I, яке змушує читача переосмислити усталені стереотипи про цього імператора. Автор майстерно малює картину епохи, показуючи не лише політичні, а й соціальні аспекти життя в Росії того часу. Образи дворян, офіцерів та поміщиків вражають своєю реалістичністю та глибиною, що дозволяє читачеві відчути атмосферу того часу. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, загальна якість роботи вражає, і це не заважає насолоджуватися змістом. "Діди" - це книга, яка залишає слід у серці та розумі, спонукаючи до роздумів про історію та її героїв.
