The Mabinogion, a collection of Welsh legends compiled in the 11th–12th centuries, contains 12 legends. They reflected the mythological ideas of the ancient Celts, the events of the legendary history of Britain, the influence of the European chivalric romance, which itself was formed under the influence of the Welsh legends about King Arthur, Tristan and Isolde, the Holy Grail.
