Thrown into prison on a false charge of treason, not broken by the torture and bullying of Yezhov’s accomplices, Divisional Commander Rokossovsky is released without betraying or slandering anyone. However, despite complete rehabilitation, no one is in a hurry to return command of the corps to him. Instead, he receives the position of adviser at the headquarters of the Kyiv Military District under Army Commander Timoshenko. In this capacity, Rokossovsky takes part first in the Polish campaign, and then in the Winter War with Finland, where it is necessary to break through the famous “Mannerheim Line” in a short time and reach Helsinki.
