The novel "Shosha" was first published in Yiddish in 1974 in the Jewish Daily Forward. The first book edition was published in 1978 in English. In Russian, “Shosha” (in an excellent translation by Nina Brumberg) was first published in 1991 - it was with this work that the Russian-speaking reader began to become acquainted with Singer.
