“Steamboat to Argentina” is the author’s third novel. Its action covers the entire 20th century and takes place in the space from the Baltic states to Argentina. The focus of the novel's narrative is the history of the search. This is a “novel within a novel.” His hero, the author’s alter ego, is trying to reconstruct the fate of Alexander Vosko, the great European architect, whose story is like an alternative, “happy” fate of a Russian man of the 20th century, who fulfilled his destiny amid the misfortunes and disasters of the era. This is a rare case of a truly European intellectual novel in Russian.
