Guillaume Apollinaire (1880–1918) is one of the most significant names in the history of European literature. Having completed the classical period of French poetry, he opened the horizons of a “new lyrical consciousness.” A brilliant prose writer, art theorist, literary historian, critic, journalist, playwright - every area of his work has become the property of the culture of the 20th century. For the first time, the three-volume Collected Works of Apollinaire presents to the reader not only the selected lyrics of Guillaume Apollinaire, but, above all, a complete translation of his prose collections “The Heresiarch and Co.” (1910) and “The Murdered Poet” (1916) are books in which Apollinaire is a harbinger of the main genres of European prose of our time. Apollinaire the prose writer is at the center of the tradition that goes from Hoffmann and Edgar Poe to Marcel Aimé and Pierre Boulle. The second volume of the Collected Works includes collections of stories “The Heresiarch and Co.” and “The Murdered Poet.”
