The plot of the book is based on the events preceding the Truce of 2668. Over the course of several years, in deep secrecy, a new navy was created, capable of breaking through the defenses of the Earth Confederation and striking at the Earth itself. However, weakened by Confederate raids behind enemy lines, the Empire faltered. The Emperor fears that before they can use their secret trump card, the Empire will fall. Then Baron Jukaga puts forward a plan for a “truce”: this gives the Empire the missing time. However, not everyone on Earth believed the sweet speeches of the Kilrathi. The well-known aircraft carrier TCS Tarawa goes on reconnaissance deep into the rear of the Empire and discovers secret shipyards. The Kilrathi force completion of construction and begin an attack on Earth. The Confederacy has only ten days left to organize its defense...

We will again meet with the crew of the Tarawa, Paladin, Hunter and Kevin Tolwyn, and also receive information about the palace intrigues of the Imperial Court and learn about great Battle for Earth.
