The plot of the book is based on the events that occurred in the Vukar Tag system after the end of Wing Commander II. The first part of the novella, written by Christopher Stasheff (Milk Run or Intruder), covers the reconnaissance flight of the corvette Johnny Green into the Wuqar Tagh system. The second part, End Run itself, describes the historical raid of the escort aircraft carrier Tarawa into the very heart of the Empire and the destruction of shipyards on the second moon of the planet Kilra. We will meet again with Jason "Bear" Bondarevsky, Sparks, Admiral Tolwyn and Doomsday. The novel perfectly conveys the atmosphere of danger and heroism, doom and hope of this desperate raid. A small love story also adds to the charm of this novel. Some aspects of Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn's personality are revealed that are difficult to discern in the games WC2, WC3 and WC4.
