The collection, which represents an interesting and original genre of French literature, includes works by C. Perot, M. d'Aunoy, A. Hamilton and other authors. The hundred-year history of the French literary fairy tale overturns the current ideas about classicism and the Enlightenment as purely rational eras , alien to fiction, the play of imagination. “Fantastic” and “plausible” works did not fight with each other, but interacted and mutually enriched. The fairy tale liberated culture, opened up new narrative possibilities for prose and poetry, and latently prepared the coming of romanticism.
