Peter Nadas (b. 1942) is a prose writer, playwright, essayist, winner of the Kossuth Prize (1992) and a number of prestigious international literary awards. Author of the books “The End of a Family Romance” (1977), “The Book of Memories” (1986), etc., which received wide resonance outside Hungary. During the period of radical political changes, P. Nadash turned to the genre of journalistic prose. The subject of reflection in Nadas's essays are problems associated with the course of social changes in Hungary and the contradictory process of overcoming the totalitarian past, as well as the painful search for self-identification of a new integrating Europe, moral dilemmas that both the West and the East faced after the historical defeat of “real socialism” .
