Peter Nadas (b. 1942) is one of the key authors of modern Hungarian and European literature, regularly writing essays. The book contains the best examples of his intellectual prose, reflecting a wide range of cultural phenomena from philosophy and anthropology to theater and photography. A separate section includes essays on literature and writers, and the final part presents texts and interviews about Nadash’s own work, shedding light on the genesis and structure of his novels “The Book of Memories” (1986) and “Parallel Stories” (2005), recognized as outstanding achievements neo-modernist prose. The texts presented in the book are published in Russian for the first time.
