David Eddings was born in 1931 in Spokane, Washington County. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Reed College, Portland, Oregon in 1954, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1961. Eddings traveled a lot, served in the American armed forces, and changed many professions - from a small clerk in a store to an English teacher. The series "Malloreon" brought David Eddings world fame as a master of "fantasy". A mortal danger looms over the states of Aloria: dark forces, embodied in the Bear Cult, threaten the peace and tranquility of the peoples. The monarchs of the Alorian lands unite to repel fanatics who seek to turn the harmony of the universe into chaos. “Sentries of the West” is the first part of the “Malloreon” series. In a fierce battle, Garion managed to defeat the evil god Torak, after which he was crowned and became the ruler of Riva. It seemed to both the newly-minted monarch himself, and his friends and associates, that their long-time dreams had finally come true - the Prophecy of the heavenly powers had come true and reasonable order and harmony had been established in the world. Meanwhile, Garion was mastering the science of royal rule, living with his wife Senedra, in the valley of Aldur, under the tutelage of the sorceress Polgara and the blacksmith Darnik, a strange child Errand was growing up - very young, he only occasionally demonstrated his unique and inexplicable abilities in the ability to control the Word and Will. And so One day, a warning from the Prophecy suddenly came from heaven: “Beware of Zandramas!” No one, not even the wizard Belgarath, knew who or what Zandramas was until Garion managed to find clues to the mystery in a previously forbidden part of the Mrin manuscripts. He learned that the forces of Darkness were still waging their battle with the forces of Light. And again from the east there was a threat of an approaching invasion of hitherto indestructible evil; and once again Garion felt that he could not resist the power of the ancient and powerful Prophecy. By the will of fate, it was determined that the fate of the whole world now depends on his decisions and actions.
