Kurt Aust, a Dane who now lives in Norway and writes in Norwegian, immediately became famous when he published his first novel, “Judgment Day” (1999). The author received the “Best Debut” award from the Askehaug publishing house, and the book was translated into several European languages and published in Germany, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the Czech Republic. The plot, almost canonical for a medieval novel, brings to mind Umberto Eco. In the confined space of an inn, cut off from the world by a snowstorm, several travelers found shelter on New Year's Eve. Among them are the Danish professor Thomas Buberg and his student, the Norwegian Petter Hortten. The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
