The novel was written in 1969–1972 and published in 1972 by MacGraw-Hill; shortly before this, he was also published in Esquire magazine. Published in Russian for the first time. The main “focus” (in both senses of the word) of “Translucent Objects” lies in the position of the narrator, who tells the story from the “otherworld” and therefore the past is permeable to him. Thus, the “we” of the narrative are the shadows of the dead, observing earthly life but not interfering with it.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
