“On True Christianity” is the work of one of the largest theologians of the Russian church of the 18th century, Tikhon of Zadonsk, in the world Timofey Savelyevich Sokolov. Tikhon was born in 1724. a very poor family and lost his father early. Tikhon received theological education and initially engaged in teaching and received the department of rhetoric, while simultaneously teaching Greek and theology. At the age of 34, he was tonsured a monk with the name Tikhon and appointed teacher of philosophy at the Novgorod Seminary. Then Tikhon became bishop, first of Novgorod, then of Voronezh. Bishop Tikhon is developing vigorous activity in the Orthodox education of the people, bringing the Church out of a state of stagnation and degradation. Due to illness, he writes a petition and goes to a monastery to retire. There Tikhon Zadonsky is engaged in ascetic work and writes his most famous works.
