The hero of the novel “One Hundred Years Ago” is a young man Alexander Mesgrev, who linked his fate with the sea. Expelled from his parents' home at the age of 17, the young man enlists to serve on a privateer ship and lives a life full of extraordinary adventures: he takes part in the capture of enemy ships, falls into the hands of pirates, finds himself captive of savages in Africa and is miraculously saved.
