This collection includes four stories by Chingiz Aitmatov: “The First Teacher”, “Mother’s Field”, “White Steamer”, “Early Cranes”, dedicated to the difficult history of his native Kyrgyzstan. Stories in which the everyday, realistic part is intertwined with folklore and mythological, and relative modernity - with the hoary antiquity of folk customs and rituals. And the heroes of these stories - a selfless young rural teacher, and a strong, proud and fearless woman who gave her whole life to others, and a charming little dreamer, and a brave teenager with a difficult character - are simply very good people who deeply feel love and friendship, the beauty of nature and native traditions.
