Monumental work - publication of a collection of ancient sources of canon law "Rules of the Holy Apostles, Holy Councils of the Ecumenical and Local and Holy Fathers with interpretations", published before the revolution and reprinted once, contains, in addition to the Slavic translation, the original Greek text of the "Rules" and the Russian language translation of their interpretations belonging to three outstanding Byzantine canonists of the 12th century: Alexei Aristinus, John Zonaras and Theodore Balsamon. These “Rules,” coupled with the explanations of the three named commentators, form the core of Orthodox church law, the norms and rules of which regulate both the internal and external life of the earthly Church. According to Rev. Justin Popovich, “holy canons are holy dogmas of faith, applied in the active life of a Christian; they encourage members of the Church to embody in everyday life the holy dogmas - the sun-transparent heavenly truths present in the earthly world thanks to the Theanthropic body of the Church of Christ.”*** This collection contains all three volumes of the Rules. The order of the Rules is made according to the Pidalion: Rules of the Saints Apostles; Rules of the Holy Councils of the Ecumenical and Local; Rules of the Holy Fathers.***Recommended for publication by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
