The story is a continuation of the popular science biographical book “Father John (Peasant): The Way, the Truth, and the Life,” which was published earlier in the ZhZL series. The author reveals for readers the fate of one of the brightest figures of the Russian Orthodox Church of the twentieth century in 1910–1967 - from the moment of birth to the departure of Hieromonk John to the Holy Dormition Pskov-Pechersk Monastery. This is the time of formation of the future great elder, his maturation, spiritual growth, and the spiritual and physical trials that befell him. Particular attention in the book is paid to people who became spiritual teachers for the future great elder. Many of them today are glorified as new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church. When writing the story, an extensive body of literature on the history of the Russian Orthodox Church of the twentieth century, unique archival materials and the press of the 1920s–60s were used, many valuable meetings and conversations were held with people still knew Father John personally. During the work on the story, materials were discovered and used that were being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The book is intended for a wide range of readers.
