The book tells about the life and fate of the great Soviet automobile designer Andrei Aleksandrovich Lipgart (1898-1980). The cars created under his leadership - Emka, ZIM, GAZ-51 and others - became vivid visual symbols of several eras, and Lipgart's main masterpiece, the M-20 Pobeda, is rightfully considered one of the most outstanding cars in the world. The book, created with the support of documents from the Lipgart family archive and the funds of the GAZ History Museum, reveals in detail the history of the creation of the epoch-making “Victory”, much attention is paid to the labor feat of the workers of the Gorky Automobile Plant during the Great Patriotic War, and describes the difficult fate of the designer in the post-war years. The publication is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of A. A. Lipgart and the 80th anniversary of the start of work on “Victory”.
