“Good Shepherd”, “earthly angel and heavenly man”, “spiritual father of all Rus'” - this is how the great elder of the Russian Orthodox Church was called Archimandrite John (Krestyankina, 1910–2006). Almost a hundred years of Father John’s life was devoted to selfless service to God and people. He left such a bright mark on himself that even after his death he still remains a moral tuning fork against which thousands of Orthodox Christians around the world measure themselves. The new book by historian and writer Vyacheslav Bondarenko is based on archival materials and memories of people who personally knew the elder, and contains many previously unknown details of his biography. The second edition has been corrected and supplemented by the author.
