Unhealed psychotrauma remains in the body for a long time and is often expressed through pain, inflammation and illness. Many bodily symptoms, long-term complaints and difficult-to-treat diseases can be manifestations of hidden psychotrauma that “lives” in the body and affects a person’s quality of life.
Using the method of Identity-Oriented Trauma Therapy (IFT), developed by a German professor Franz Ruppert, the psychological trauma behind bodily symptoms can be identified, acknowledged and rethought. Deeper contact with oneself, a careful and conscious attitude towards oneself, one’s feelings and desires, as well as one’s past, make it possible to integrate internal parts split off as a result of trauma, recreating the integrity of a person. This is reflected externally in an improvement in symptoms or even in complete healing of the body. Identity therapy provides support for our body's own healing powers, and often serves as a rare opportunity to get to the true cause of a physical illness.
A lengthy and well-founded introduction to the ICU method from Franz Ruppert and Harald Banhzaf, as well as 23 articles by active German practitioners psychotherapists reveal a different nature of pain, “disease” and symptoms. The connection between body signals, psyche and trauma is examined in detail, including the example of diseases such as:
chronic pain, heart disease, skin diseases, back and joint pain, dental pain, sexual dysfunction and sleep disorders , and even different types of cancer.
The ideas underlying the method of psychotrauma therapy developed by Franz Ruppert make a fundamental contribution to the entire theory and practice of trauma therapy. They provide both the key to a more complete understanding of oneself, one’s conditions and one’s history of “illness,” and a resource for healing, complementing and sometimes completely replacing traditional medical treatment.
The book is recommended for psychologists, psychotherapists, coaches, practicing doctors, as well as an inquisitive reader looking for answers to the questions, what is pain, why do I suffer, what makes me sick. The book is written in accessible language and is intended for a wide range of readers. Published in Russian for the first time.
