The book by the Italian left-wing theorist and activist of the autonomist movement Franco “Bifo” Berardi (born 1948) is addressed to modern times, where the repressive dominance of the economic factor and digital technologies leads to the almost complete involvement of the human soul in the labor process. In exploring this new form of alienation, the author, in his own words, uses both Marxist and poststructuralist discourses, as well as the principles of Deleuze's schizoanalysis and the language of cyberculture. In his analysis, he relies on numerous philosophical, scientific, as well as cinematic sources (films of Bergman, Antonioni, Yasujiro Oji). He sees creative self-realization, autonomy, and solidarity as the main values and tasks of modern man.
