The fourth book in Karl Ove Knausgaard’s monumental autobiographical series “My Struggle” tells about the youth of the protagonist and the beginning of his writing career. Karl Ove is eighteen, he has just graduated from high school, but does not intend to receive a higher education. He wants to write. There are a lot of ideas swirling in my head, they are just rushing to paper. But to devote yourself to this activity, you need money and free time. He gets a job as a school teacher in a small fishing village in northern Norway. He doesn’t really like the work, and the village atmosphere even less.
