“Childhood” is the third part of the autobiographical cycle “My Struggle” by the classic of modern Norwegian literature Karl Ove Knausgaard. The writer turns to his earliest memories, often fragmentary, but always vivid and emotionally rich, reflecting the acuteness of the child’s impressions and experiences when confronted with the outside world. From the distance of the years he has lived, he observes how his inner “I” was formed, how he learned to recognize himself as an individual. Moving to the island of Trumeya, elementary school, street games, the first insult, the first loss... “Childhood” is an emotionally charged reflection on growing up, presented in the form of almost tangible pictures that come to life in the author’s memory.
