The book provides an overview of the origins and results of the Erzyan national movement from 1989 to 2019 in Russia. The forces involved in it are shown. These are the cultural and educational public organization “Mastorava”, the Foundation for Saving the Erzya Language, centers and other non-profit organizations. The ways of defending political and ethnic rights, freedoms, and the successes achieved by the movement are named. Space is also given to the list of those organizations and individuals who were against saving the Erzya language and ethnic group. The work shows the aspirations of the Erzya national-social movement to create the Erzya Autonomous Republic in accordance with the Constitution of Russia and thereby protect the Erzya language from Russification.
