The godlike Duke Dios deals with his demonic lover Tenebrae, who vows to torment and haunt him forever. But is a person capable of fighting metaphysical forces? Such a battle will only destroy him.
The philosopher Ladislav Klima (1878–1928) admired the power of the Will and hated the pitiful humanity, the most vile part of which are supporters of social equality. The unfinished play Dios (1927, published 1990) is one of his last works. In this black comedy, Klima glorifies the delights of heavy drinking, the greatness of the superman and the many faces of the vamp woman, over whom death has no power.
Between the so-called ghost and the so-called reality, there are curious intermediate phenomena. Humanity shuns them with fear, defending itself with all sorts of nonsense. It applies exactly the same to animals, or to the fact that it itself consists of 99 percent creeping creatures and only one percent eagles...
