Jiang Kui (1155-1221) – poet, musician, calligrapher. A lyricist with a tragic attitude. His main motives are love and wandering. His poems are unmanifest dreams; reality is only that in which his poetic self exists. Poetry inextricably merges with music in an emotional explosion, it is a confession, a form of speech, an emanation - both as an outburst of the soul and as a manifestation of the Universe. The poetic language is replete with deep-rooted connotations, metaphors, euphemisms, with subtext that in metareality merges smoky images with the personal sphere. For the cover, a painting by the artist Zheng Changfu from the translator’s personal collection was used.
