King Charles Frederick II of Prussia (1712–1786), known in history as Frederick the Great, was King of Prussia from 1740 until the end of his days. The people called this outstanding representative of the Hohenzollern dynasty Old Fritz. This nickname combined both the sympathy of the Germans for their king and recognition of his statesmanship. One of the most brilliant works of Frederick the Great is the political treatise “Anti-Machiavelli,” written in 1739–1740, when the king was only 28 years old. In it, he polemicizes with Niccolò Machiavelli and his famous book “The Prince.” The treatise became one of the most widely read works in enlightened Europe, which stated that the main goal of the monarch was to maintain the well-being and prosperity of his subjects. It has not lost its relevance and to this day, on the contrary, has become extremely popular as the only true way of governing the state. The publication also includes the work of Frederick the Great, “Instructions on the Art of War to His Generals,” a work devoted to the tactics and strategy of warfare. The publishing design is preserved in PDF A4 format.
