The treatise “History of Animals” - the largest in volume of all the works of Aristotle (IV century BC) - has never been published in Russian. It gives an idea of the breadth of Aristotle's theoretical and practical biological views, his natural philosophy, as well as the level of scientific knowledge in ancient times. In the Middle Ages, during the Renaissance and later, during the 17th-18th centuries, the “History of Animals” was the main source for knowledge of the animal world, its taxonomy, ecology, etc. This work is of considerable importance as a monument to literature, evidence of an important aspect of the application of philosophical concepts of mature antiquity.
