Aristotle (384–22 BC) is one of the greatest thinkers of Antiquity, a student of Plato and educator of Alexander the Great, the founder of the Peripatetic school, the founder of formal logic, a natural scientist who had a significant influence on the development of all Western European philosophy and science.
The first treatise in the famous “Organon” of Aristotle, a philosophical work devoted to logic, was “Categories” - one of the earliest works of the philosopher, where 10 categories were first identified, using which we cognize and describe the environment reality. This work largely served as the foundation for the study of logic throughout the history of Western philosophy.
The collection also includes the “Introduction” of Porphyry, the ancient Neoplatonist philosopher, who explains all the basic concepts of the doctrine of logic in the “Categories”, and Aristotle’s logical treatise “On Interpretation.”
