The book “Rose” is four stories about what life was like before the war, and how the war does not end with returning from the front. The heroes of this book are different people, good in some ways, not good in others. Not good. The story “Rose” tells about two girls separated by a landing, about their strange, unlike anything else friendship, in which even death cannot put an end to it. “The Keys” is the story of a man with the now unfashionable profession of philosopher and his almost successful search for Europe. “Sketch and “San Gabriel”” is about a place where there seems to be no war, about people who do not know and do not want to know about the trenches, shelling, deaths and exploits, who, out of habit, steal and intrigue, imitate patriotism and betray themselves . And the story “Fugue” is the story of a military disease of polyphony, asserting that multiple personalities are not scary, and that the worst of the invented personalities can always be kicked out and thus defeated, and the best one can not be afraid and recognize as one’s friend... All these stories are a little “odyssey”, they are all small sagas about a long and difficult journey home.
