Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547–1616) began writing his best novel, “The Cunning Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha,” with which the era of modern art began, in prison. The author of the immortal book lived the life of a great warrior, full of adventures and dramatic events. Cervantes addressed this novel to children and sages, but he appreciated his great creation too modestly, and the Knight of the Sad Image, accompanied by his faithful squire, continues his endless journey through centuries and countries, conquering the hearts of more and more new readers.
