Emilio Salgari (1862–1911) is a celebrated writer, whom his contemporaries called the “Italian Jules Verne,” who wrote about two hundred novels and short stories. Among these numerous works, sparkling with vivid imagination and exciting plots, the most popular were two pirate series: “Pirates of the Antilles”, about the adventures of the Black Corsair and his loyal followers, as well as a series of novels under the general title “Pirates of Malaysia”, about the noble robber Sandokan. This edition includes two long-awaited novels about the further adventures of the brave pirate: “Sandokan’s Retribution” (in a new translation) and “The Return of Momprachem” (for the first time in Russian). In these works, Sandokan, together with his faithful friends, is preparing to take revenge on his mortal enemy, who destroyed his family, and also to wrest his native island of Mompracham from the tenacious clutches of the British. For the first time in Russia, works are accompanied by a full set of illustrations by famous Italian artists Gennaro D'Amato and Alberto della Valle.
