Paul Celan is the last great poet of the 20th century, with whose works, according to Alain Badiou, the “age of poets” ends. Born in Chernivtsi. Celan spent the entire second half of his life in Paris, where in 1970 he committed suicide by throwing himself into the Seine from the Mirabeau Bridge. This publication is the most complete collection of his works ever published in Russian. The book includes more than 100 poems with parallel German texts, all of the poet’s prose published during his lifetime, as well as a large selection of fragments from Celan’s handwritten heritage and a significant part of his correspondence.
