The works of Pavel Pavlovich Ulitin (1918–1986) are difficult to define by genre. Starting from the forties of the last century, he consistently built his own form of prose utterance, which has no discernible analogues. “I want to find words that have no added value,” Ulitin wrote, and called his writing technique “hidden plot stylistics.” The movement of this plot determines the change of paintings and quotes, the cross hum of voices sounding in memory or the author’s ironic commentary.
