1962 Elisa Esposito works as a cleaner at the Occam Aerospace Research Center in Baltimore. This job is the best the mute orphan from the orphanage could get. And if it weren’t for her friend Zelda and her neighbor Giles, Eliza’s life would have been completely unbearable. But one night, soldier Richard Strickland appears in Occam, delivering a top-secret object to the center - an amphibian man caught in the Amazon jungle. This creature both frightens and fascinates Eliza, and she teaches him sign language. Gradually, mutual interest develops into feelings, and Eliza decides to elope with her lover. She is full of determination, but Strickland is not going to part with the test subject so easily, because the Russians have found out about the amphibian and intend to steal him.
