The book includes the stories “Asya”, “First Love”, “Spring Waters”. Turgenev wrote: “Love, I thought, is stronger than death and the fear of death. Only by her, only by love does life hold and move.” In “Ace” (1858), the narration is told from the perspective of an anonymous narrator, recalling his youth and meeting in a small town on the banks of the Rhine with the girl Asya. In his declining years, the hero realizes that he truly loved only her. In the story “First Love” (1860), an elderly man talks about his youthful love. Sixteen-year-old Vladimir arrives with his family at a country estate, where he meets a beautiful girl, twenty-one-year-old Zinaida, and falls in love with her. Later, Vladimir discovers that Zinaida loves his own father... "Spring Waters" (1872) is the love story of a Russian landowner Sanin. He recalls the events of thirty years ago that happened in his life when he was traveling in Germany.
