This is, of course, a fairy tale. And Stas Vostokov wrote it about ten years ago, when our army was, as he put it, “out of shape.” So was it worth publishing it now, when things are going better for the army? Of course, it was worth it - if only because the fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it, a lesson for good fellows. And “Private Gorilla” is full of hints and lessons, and the author is not at all shy about mocking the most pressing topics. His soldiers refuse to fulfill their “military duty of hazing”, Gorilla’s army friends come to visit him on a Grad missile launcher (doesn’t remind him of anything from a very recent story?), some “lilac rebels” take Gorilla hostage, and the American peacekeeper general explains that in his country “the freedom to launch a rocket cannot be taken away from citizens.” In general, you'll laugh. Yes, yes, in the most literal sense of the word - all of this is really very funny, and all of this is really worth making fun of.
