The great author of the most touching and enchanting fairy tales in world literature, Hans Christian Andersen, called the most important of them “The Tale of My Life.” There are no evil witches, no good fairies, no wonderful gifts of fortune. Her hero travels around the world and from era to era, not in magic galoshes or in luxurious carriages. But the source of his inspiration was precisely his endless wanderings and meetings with different people of that time. “Just as a highlander carves steps in a rock, so I slowly, with painstaking labor, won my place in literature,” Andersen admitted in his old age. And the writer passed away, favored by his people and everyone who read at least one story written by the great Storyteller. With all sincerity, Andersen repeatedly repeated that his life was truly a fairy tale, rich in amazing events. The autobiography he wrote confirms this - having captivatingly described his childhood, he talks about achieving, despite poverty and suffering, the great goal that he set for himself.
