This volume opens with the Collected Works of the brilliant writer, literary critic, critic, film critic and screenwriter V. B. Shklovsky (1893–1984). The paradoxical style of thought, aphoristic writing, and unique intonation made this author a most interesting witness of the era, a subtle researcher of artistic language and, at the same time, its innovator. The purpose of this collection, which is fundamentally new in composition, is to show all the richness of Shklovsky’s diverse literary heritage. Little-known, archival and never reprinted texts scattered across many hard-to-find publications are put into circulation. The first volume contains more than 70 such works. The conceptual core of this volume is the historical figure of the Revolution, permeating Shklovsky's autobiographical and theoretical texts, his letters and reviews, his struggle for a new art form and new forms of everyday life, and his articles on literature and cinema. The second volume (Figure) will be devoted to the memoir-autobiographical dimension of Shklovsky’s work. Published in agreement with the literary agency ELKOST International.
