Brothers The Presnyakovs live in Yekaterinburg and write plays that are performed today all over the world - from Warsaw to Lisbon, and from Lithuania to Chile. Playing the Victim is probably their most famous work. The premiere took place at the Edinburgh Festival in 2003, and since then its productions have been in the repertoire of the Moscow Art Theater. A.P. Chekhov, Deutsches Theater (Berlin), Royal Court (London) and many more theater companies in Europe, America, Australia. In 2006, the film “Playing the Victim” received the Grand Prix at the First Rome International Film Festival and was recognized as the best at Kinotavr. Robert De Niro included it in the main program of the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival in New York, which he founded. The novel “Playing the Victim” is a book that the authors call a remix of their own play and film script. Unlike the play and the film, this is a cast of the soul of Valya, the hero of an endless story about a man whose profession is to play the victim in the course of police investigative experiments. Just what should you do with this cast: try it on yourself, break it, put it on a shelf and admire?..
